Pembrokeshire Fish Week's Opening Day Event at Milford Fish Docks

Start your festival week at our opening event - a must for food lovers and the whole family!

Buy the freshest catch from our Fish Market - choose from a range of locally caught fish and shellfish straight from the fishermen. Make the most of your fresh purchase, watch Duncan and Sue Lucas from Passionate About Fish as they fillet, prepare and present the local catch like you've never seen before!

Taste a less familiar fish or try a new recipe inspired by cookery demonstrations from top chefs Bryn Williams and Will Holland, supported by Milford Haven Town council.  If you have keen cooks in the family, why not sign them up for a hands on fish cookery workshop, you can even join in with them too at the Main Port Engineering marquee.  Plus you can take home some excellent quality ingredients and treats to make it a really memorable food experience, from the many local produce stands around the waterside.

Sample a selection of wonderful fish dishes from our show case of talented local chefs in the Blas Y Tir ‘Feast on Fish' pop up restaurant, accompanied by the famous Pembrokeshire early potatoes, pair your lunch with a cocktail or a drink from the real ale bar. For food on the go, there are plenty of seafood based street food options from lobster rolls to wraps, with plenty for non fish lovers too.

Why not relax and take in the atmosphere with performances on the live music stage throughout the day from Amazonne, Mary-Jayne, The Mustangs, The Raspberry Jam, New Tricks and talented singer Kyle Kirkhouse.

For families, there are a host of free activities for all ages including a Sea of Creation with graffiti, craft drop in workshops and pavement painting or families can join artist Barry John MBE for the Bluestone Foundations Art.  At The Europspar Court Be mesmerised by Matt the Magic Man, swing along to The Vagrants crew sea shanty singing  and laugh out loud with Anvil Productions. Make way for the Fairly Famous Family's Life Guards and Maritime show, as they move through the crowds or get into the rhythm with the Samba Galez drums and the Va Va Jhoom bollywood style dance group; or imagine yourself a real pirate as you explore on the Tall Ship ‘Irene of Bridgewater'

Check out the Learning Lagoon to discover the under water world, our coastline and sustainable fishing; dip into touch tanks, coastal quiz's and activities for Seafarers Awareness Week.  Try a kayak taster session with Haverfordwest Kayak club or see the skills of the sea cadets rowing.

Enter the Festival Treasure Trail for a great way to explore the various activities and stalls, plus a chance to win a great prize from Battlefield Live- open to children under 16yrs. Pick up your treasure map entry form from the Festival information stand.

With plenty of stands to browse, from craft to exhibitions, fishing heritage, RNLI, fire safety demonstrations, classic cars to boat building, plus a host of happenings along The Nelson Quay - why not come along and have a whale of a time!
